PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

CPKC is hiring full-time Equipment Operators to facilitate the safe and efficient loading of domestic and international containers at the Intermodal facility.

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

1. Operate various terminal equipment including shunt trucks, light-duty pickup trucks, fuel trucks, trailers, chassis, forklifts, sweeper trucks, etc.
2. Hostle containers/chassis within the terminal to support train loading operations.
3. Perform general duties, including pre-tripping of perishable intermodal containers, building electric reefer container sets on railcars, plugging in reefers on ground, and monitoring performance.
4. Visual inspection and reporting of damages and defects of intermodal equipment.
5. Prepare railcars for loading different-size containers by placing pedestals and spacers.
6. Assist in securing containers once loaded onto railcars (walking on railcar platforms, locking/unlocking IBCs).
7. Update system records upon work completion.
8. Perform other miscellaneous duties as required.
9. This is a safety-sensitive position within an environment of heavy equipment and constant traffic flow.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Advanced reading and writing skills, with the ability to follow detailed instructions and training, including driving.
• Valid driver’s license.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Medical Requirements: Operating safely is a core value at CPKC. All new hires for safety-sensitive positions must complete a pre-employment medical including physical, vision, hearing, alcohol, and drug assessments. Pre-employment drug testing is also required. Candidates participating in the Trainee Program will need to pass a drug test during training before final qualification.
