The Front Office Consultant 1, is accountable for engaging resources across the organization to determine cost, timeline and scope of an engagement to assist sponsors in making educated decisions to proceed with projects and to set project teams up for success.

This is a hybrid role with requirements to be on site 3 days a week, providing a balance between remote flexibility and in-person collaboration.

About The Role:

  • Responsible for the creation of a proposal (typically a client Statement of Work or Internal Financial Book of Record) that details the scope, costs, benefits, notional timelines and risks of a requested initiative (project, change, etc.), in support of the requestor (a product owner, line of service lead, department head, etc.).
  • Responsible for opportunities of low to medium complexity.
  • Lead, coordinate, and take accountability for all Idea Phase due diligence documents.
  • Provide consulting and support to other teams, assist in the creation of their pre-project deliverables, and ultimately include the results of their deliverables in the final proposal.
  • Participate in required governance activities for Idea Phase deliverables.
  • Present due diligence results and recommendations (including final proposals) to internal decision makers (including senior executives) and Clients with the intent to obtain approval to move the project forward into the Initiation phase.
  • Conduct formal transition of due diligence results, including the Statement of Work (SOW) and Financial Book of Record (FBOR) to an assigned Project Manager when a project moves out of the Idea Phase and into the Initiation Phase (per Symcor’s Project Management Methodology).
  • Provide regular consulting services across the Enterprise as required.
  • Responsible for securing the allocation of named resources to support both due diligence and project execution activities.
  • Work with Resource Managers to secure a due diligence team to support estimation and completion of pre-project deliverables
  • Facilitate a notional timeline session to determine critical path to drive resource skill requirements.
  • Identify the sourcing strategy for initiatives and related resources (vendor, TCS, in-house, etc.).
  • Partner with IT Vendor Management to secure vendor resources.
  • Work with Resource Managers and the Project Portfolio Management team to secure the allocation of named project. resources required to move the project from the Idea phase to the Initiation Phase.
  • Responsible for collecting, consolidating and presenting due diligence level IT cost estimates (typically a Rough Order of Magnitude estimate or Financial Book of Record).
  • Ownership and creation of a Statement of Work/ Financial Book of Record (FBOR) level estimates.
  • Work with a variety of teams across IT to collect cost estimates.
  • Provide financial information to support Business Case Analysis (BCA) and Bid Reviews.

What You Need To Succeed:

Education:

  • University degree or equivalent in a relevant business or technology degree.

Experience:

  • 3-5 years of experience working with IT methodologies (SDLC, Agile, ITIL, etc.) or
  • 3-5 years of project management experience.
  • 6-9 years of experience working in technology, financial services or customer communication fields.
  • 3-5 years of experience working at Symcor is an asset.

Skills:

  • Business and technical writing.
  • Financial knowledge to support capital vs non-capital expenditures. In addition, one time and on-going price models knowledge is an asset.
  • Project Management knowledge to assist in the creation of notional timelines and determine the critical path.
  • Good understanding of technologies and business practices related to financial services.
  • Exceptional communication (written/verbal) and problem-solving abilities supporting all levels of the organization.
  • Knowledge of analytical techniques (Competitive & Benchmarking Analysis, Stakeholder Analysis, Cost Benefit Analysis, Gap Analysis, Feasibility Analysis, SWOT Analysis, etc.).
  • Awareness of trends in relevant industries and clients (e.g. financial, payments, customer communications, insurance, fraud detection, etc.).
