Job summary

The Government of Alberta is seeking an Epidemiologist to join the Health Analytics Branch in Edmonton. You will apply epidemiology and health data analysis to support population health planning and decision making.

You will prepare analytic reports, create data visualizations, and collaborate with partners to translate complex data into actionable insights for Albertans.

This full-time, permanent role offers 36.25 hours weekly with a competitive salary in the stated range.

Qualifications

  • Data analysis related to epidemiology or public health.
  • Data analysis using R, SAS, or other statistical analysis programs.
  • Verbal or written communication of health data analysis.
  • Work using Microsoft Windows using Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Coordinating multiple projects, priorities, and deliverables within tight timelines.

Responsibilities

  • Provide epidemiological expertise for compiling and analyzing data to report on population health status, determinants, and risk factors.
  • Support project teams to prepare health information/knowledge products to quantify trends and help assess policy options.
  • Support branch and corporate initiatives to ensure continuous quality improvement.
  • Create data visualizations such as reports, dashboards, or maps.
  • Provide analytics support to population health stakeholders.
  • Provide statistical support and advice to support the development and maintenance of population health surveillance methodologies and systems.
