Detailed Overview

Reporting to the Clinical Coordinator, the EPI Group and Family Therapist, as part of a multi-disciplinary team, provides comprehensive group psychoeducation and therapy services, including education, assessment, intervention, and follow-up for clients and families in the EPI Program. The role involves collaboration with team members, education, research activities, and community engagement.

Responsibilities
  1. Develop and implement group intervention components; provide psychoeducation and therapy services; coordinate with clients, families, and community supports.
  2. Provide family education, assessment, short-term therapy, and multi-family group services to facilitate client and family improvement.
  3. Monitor psychosocial situations and make referrals as needed.
  4. Educate and consult with clients, families, and healthcare professionals about psychosis and therapy options.
  5. Maintain accurate client records and documentation.
  6. Communicate with external agencies and collaborate with community organizations.
  7. Serve as a resource for clients and families regarding mental health resources.
  8. Deliver in-services, presentations, and training on relevant topics.
  9. Participate in program evaluation, research, and service improvement initiatives.
  10. Maintain professional development and stay updated with current practices.
  11. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education and Experience: Master's Degree in Social Work, Clinical Counselling, or relevant health discipline. One year recent experience in psychiatry and two years in group and family therapy. Eligible for registration with relevant professional body. Valid BC Driver’s License and access to vehicle.

Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of mental illness and treatment modalities, psychotherapy skills, ability to educate and collaborate, develop and deliver groups and presentations, knowledge of substance misuse, pharmacological issues, family development stages, adolescent mental health, effective referral skills, independent and team work, research capabilities, effective communication, organizational skills, and proficiency with related equipment and software.
