Reporting to the Document Manager, the Document Controller is responsible for quality checking, registering, classifying, managing, tracking, filing and transmitting electronic project deliverables in an electronic document management system (EDMS). The successful candidate will be responsible for facilitating document delivery following project and client standards, provide technical expertise to a large project team, and ensure accuracy of current revisions and associated metadata. The successful candidate will be expected to work independently on tasks but will be part of a growing document control team. Fast-paced project will suit an energetic and driven individual with a passion for quality and delivery. Previous document control experience is mandatory, ideally in an engineering environment.

Position Responsibilities

  • Numbering deliverables and other documents per client standards.
  • Registering and classifying deliverables and other documents as required in the EDMS.
  • Managing versions, revisions and metadata in the EDMS.
  • Transmitting deliverables to the client and ensuring quality requirements and schedule are met.
  • Providing reports from the EDMS as requested.
  • Assisting team members in use of the EDMS and ensuring procedures are followed.
  • Adhere to project procedures at all times and guide team members in the same.

Skills and Experience

  • 3+ years of document control experience preferably in an engineering/construction environment.
  • Experience with systems such as SharePoint, Aconex or other collaborative project management tools and EDMS.
  • Outstanding communication and relationship building skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic and complex environment to meet deadlines and daily requirements.
  • Exceptional attention to detail a must.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite; experience in developing and formatting documents an asset.
