We are currently recruiting for a (position name). Our team includes world class experts and dynamic go-getters. This is a full-time position based at our Chemetics lab in Burnaby, BC. Reporting to the R&D Laboratory Manager, you will play a key role in developing innovative, cost-effective, and environmentally sustainable solutions for industries such as chemical processing, water treatment, carbon capture, sulfur recovery, and non-ferrous metals. In this role, you will help with the setup and operation of laboratory and pilot-scale testing of advanced technologies and chemical processes, helping enhance or redesign existing systems. As a key technical resource, you’ll collaborate with vendors and internal teams to support the safe, reliable, and efficient delivery of projects. Responsibilities

  • Supporting laboratory operations and pilot-scale development. This includes hands-on technical work to build and maintain our bench-scale and pilot-scale test units, install and maintain instrumentation, carry out testing, and collaborate with our teams.
  • Support day-to-day lab operations, including safety audits, routine maintenance, and housekeeping.
  • Set up and organize small-scale test equipment; build and maintain large-scale pilot units.
  • Install, calibrate, and maintain instrumentation and control systems (DeltaV, LabView, Siemens TIA Portal, etc.).
  • Conduct bench and pilot-scale testing, including sample prep, quality control, and system commissioning.
  • Monitor system performance to support process optimization.
  • Prepare technical documentation, including test procedures, project reports, and equipment specs.
  • Assist in the development and refinement of testing methodologies and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records of test results, inventory, and laboratory activities.
  • Collaborate with engineers, technicians, and vendors on design improvements and troubleshooting.
  • Manage the ordering, receiving, and shipping of lab supplies and equipment.
  • Serve as a technical resource across various projects, ensuring safety, reliability, and efficiency.
  • Contribute to detailed designs, drawings, calculations, and specifications as needed.

What you will bring:

Technical and Industry Experience:

  • Hands-on experience in a laboratory or pilot-scale testing environment.
  • Practical experience working with laboratory or process equipment.
  • Comfortable using hand tools to assemble and maintain equipment.
  • Skilled in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues, especially with equipment, instruments, and test setups.
  • Ability to move items up to 30 lbs.
  • Interest in chemistry or instrumentation.

Education, Qualifications & Training

  • Diploma in Applied Science or Engineering Technology from a two-year accredited program.

For applicants based in the province of British Columbia, the salary range is $68,000 to $80,000.
