Job summary

NexGold Mining Corp. is seeking an Environmental Technician based at the Goliath Gold Complex near Dryden, ON. You will support field sampling programs, ensure protocol adherence, and assist in environmental reporting, with a focus on safety and teamwork.

You will help coordinate field activities, manage data quality, and contribute to environmental documents. The role requires field work in varied conditions and a valid Ontario G license.

Qualifications

  • Degree or diploma in an applicable environmental field.
  • Experience working in a field-based environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines with evolving priorities.
  • Willingness to work outdoors on rough terrain in various weather.
  • Valid Ontario G license.

Job description

Based at the Goliath Gold Complex near Dryden, ON, we currently have an exciting opportunity for one (1) Environmental Technician to join our NexGold team, reporting to the Vice-President of Sustainability or designate.

The Environmental Technician will demonstrate a commitment to safety and excellence while applying foundational environmental management skills, conducting field sampling programs, following established protocols, and supporting relevant reporting requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Demonstrate a commitment to safety and excellence;
  • Work and communicate within a team environment towards well-defined objectives;
  • Support field programs, data and logistics and ensure all environmental sampling protocols are observed and reported on a timely basis;
  • Coordinate and support co-operative education students and contractors / consultants as appropriate;
  • Participate in stakeholder events as appropriate;
  • Support an understanding of environmental performance within the site team and promote a culture that meets or exceeds protocols;
  • Advocate company performance internally as well as to our stakeholders, as required;
  • Aid in the submission and support of permits and respective programs where applicable;
  • Analyze, interpret, and manage environmental data to ensure quality standards are met; and
  • Assist in the preparation of internal and external environmental documents.
Other:
  • Demonstrate a personal commitment to Safety, Health, and Environmental responsibilities.
  • Additional responsibilities or tasks as may be assigned from time to time.
Position Requirements:
Must Haves
  • Degree or diploma in an applicable environmental or a related field;
  • Previous experience conducting work within a field-based environment;
  • Experience with Microsoft Suite of products, including Excel, Word, and Outlook;
  • Capacity to work to tight deadlines with evolving priorities;
  • Ability and willingness to work outdoors on rough terrain in all weather conditions;
  • Experience operating boats, all-terrain vehicles and other powered equipment an asset;
  • Must be able to handle a high level of confidentiality; and
  • Valid driver’s license equivalent to G in Ontario.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience conducting work within a field-based environment is considered an asset;
  • Previous experience with remote field environments is considered an asset;
  • Experience in a mining or industrial environment will be highly regarded;
  • Microsoft field entry data, especially Excel.
Role Details:
  • Employment Type: Full-time permanent
  • Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:00am CT to 3:00pm CT
  • Start Date: As soon as possible
  • Work Arrangements:In-office with some fieldwork as-needed

  • Compensation: $65,000-$80,000 annual base salary, dependent on incumbent's qualifications and experience. Eligible for discretionary short-term incentive program.
  • Benefits:Eligible for Company-paid group benefits package (health, dental, paramedical, vision, employee and dependent life insurance, AD&D, critical illness, and employee & family assistance program). Mandatory participation in group long-term disability (LTD) insurance program with employee-paid premiums.
  • Retirement:Eligible for Company retirement savings program with company-match.
  • Vacation:Access to paid vacation time from hire date.
  • PPE:Reimbursement-eligible items include CSA work boots. All other PPE will be provided by the company on an as-needed basis.
  • Housing: Company-provided housing is not available for this role.
  • Travel: This is a local role and is not eligible for a travel allowance in accordance with NexGold’s travel-related policies and practices.
