Calgary, AB Full-time $100000.00-$115000.00/year

Office Location: Fort St. John & Port Moody, BC / Calgary, AB

Pay Range: $48.07 to $55.29 per hour (Approximately $100,000 to $115,000 per annum)

Overview

Candidate must have direct BC environmental consulting experience.

The primary function of the Environmental Technical Specialist (Contaminated Sites) is to provide specialized technical support to our team to provide solutions to our clients’ reclamation and remediation sites challenges in British Columbia (BC). The role also supports SynergyAspen in training and professional development, and research and development.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Review technical reports and provide feedback to report writers.
  • Offer technical support to all staff for interpreting laws and regulations.
  • Plan and provide cost estimates for soil and groundwater investigations/remediation.
  • Ensure the quality and accuracy of work plans and cost estimates.
  • Enhance operational efficiency by updating and creating technical POPs.
  • Stay updated on regulatory changes across provinces, territories, and federal levels.
  • Provide project management support as needed.
  • Conduct technical training sessions on various topics.
  • Assist junior and intermediate staff with questions and guidance.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications For Environmental Technical Specialist

  • 10+ years of relevant contaminated sites/reclamation experience in environmental consulting in BC, with 5+ years of senior manager experience.
  • Significant experience working on reclamation/contaminated sites projects of varying complexity.
  • Technical diploma or degree in a related discipline.
  • Possesses a recognized accredited professional designation (e.g., P.Eng, P.Geo, P.Chem, P.Ag. etc.) recognized in BC, or the ability to acquire one.
  • Knowledge of and experience with environmental standards, and regulations or guidelines and federal and provincial regulations. Primarily knowledge with the BCER Delegation Agreement, pre-reclamation, and post-reclamation assessments, and requirements relating to consultation with stakeholders.
  • Experience managing a team, while providing training and mentorship to juniors.
  • Energy, intelligence, and integrity. Your drive for exceptional client experience is relentless.
  • Reliable attention to details that matter most, accuracy driven, and professional organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication, technical writing, and problem-solving skills.
  • Commitment to safety.
