Job description

SUMMIT, An Earth Services Company, is seeking a highly motivated reclamation and remediation professionalto join the Reclamation, Remediation and Risk Management (RRRM) Division as an Environmental Specialist (Competition #25-02-0700) with a primary focus on environmental site assessments, reclamation and remediation work scopes. This is a full-time field position based out of our Lloydminster, AB, office.


What to Expect:

This role will be expected to support various work scopes across Western Canada with extensive field work both within and outside the Lloydminster area. You will be given the opportunity to gain experience in all facets of the reclamation and remediation industry including field work and reporting. You will also act as the in-field point of contact for Summit clients and help facilitate the success of project deliverables for the Reclamation Remediation and Risk Management team.

You will be supported by the entire Summit organization which consists of a dynamic team of Professional Engineers, Geologists, Biologists, Chemists and Agrologists, technical administrators, business development and health and safety professionals, and an in-house IT department.

JOB DUTIES:

You will carry out your duties in consultation with RRRM Project Managers. The primary duties include but are not limited to:

  • Onsite supervision or completion of a variety of environmental site assessments, surface reclamation (wellsite and associated facilities), and remediation
  • Project planning, coordination and management
  • Data interpretation, analysis and reporting
  • Budget preparation and control
  • Regulatory and third-party stakeholder interactions
  • Participation in company and client specific health and safety programs

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • University degree or diploma from a recognized institution with a specialty in environmental engineering, agrology, conservation and reclamation, or geoscience
  • 2-3 years of consulting or industry experience in environmental site assessment and reclamation
  • Registration, or eligibility for registration, with a relevant professional organization (e.g.APEGA, APEGS, AIA, ASPB, AAFPA etc)
  • Introductory knowledge of reclamation guidelines and best practices
  • Introductory to advanced analytical and technical writing skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary project team environment
  • Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to take initiative and ownership and work independently
  • Excellent multitasking and problem-solving skills

The following is considered an asset;

  • Pesticide Applicator’s License
  • Experience conducting environmental liability assessments in accordance with the Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) Liability Management Program
