Parsons is seeking an Environmental Site Supervisor for a highly field-based role across Ontario. The successful candidate will spend most time at project sites with regular travel, including overnight assignments and some night/weekend work to meet client needs.

The role requires supervising field programs, ensuring health and safety, data collection, and coordination with project managers while operating outdoor in varied conditions.

Qualifications

• Diploma in earth sciences or related programs with 4+ years field experience.
• Experience supervising drilling, soil and groundwater sampling, remediation.
• Valid Canadian driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
• Excellent written and oral communications in the field.
• Ability to perform physically demanding outdoor work.
• Willingness to travel out-of-town for extended periods.
• Ability to work independently in the field and in teams.
• Resourceful with practical field problem solving.

Responsibilities

• Supervise subcontractors on environmental field programs, including remediation.
• Oversee health and safety for Parsons’ staff on projects.
• Support contract administration: track schedule, excavation tonnages, injections, hours.
• Communicate project data and timelines to keep work on time and budget.
• Complete monitoring and groundwater sampling using field equipment.
• Soil and sediment sampling, drilling, and documentation.
• Maintain field notes and chain-of-custody forms.
• Operate field monitoring equipment (GPS, data loggers, etc.).
• Ensure health and safety policies at all sites are followed.
• Perform other responsibilities as required.

Parsons is seeking an Environmental Site Supervisor for a highly field-based role supporting environmental investigation, remediation, monitoring, and infrastructure redevelopment projects throughout Ontario.

Two positions are available:

- based out of the western Greater Toronto Area (GTA)

What You'll Be Doing:

The successful candidate should expect to spend the majority of their working time at project sites rather than in an office. The position requires regular travel, including overnight and extended out-of-town assignments, with hotel stays throughout Ontario. Some projects may also require night, evening, and weekend work to accommodate site conditions, construction schedules, environmental programs, or client requirements.

The Environmental Site Supervisor will work independently in a variety of field environments, including active construction, industrial, remediation, and environmentally impacted sites.

This role is best suited to a resourceful and adaptable professional who is comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions, travelling frequently, staying away from home, and responding to changing field priorities.

Your key responsibilities include:

• Supervise subcontractors associated with environmental field programs, including Site Remediation programs (Environmental excavations and implementation of various in-situ remediation techniques).
• Oversee health and safety for Parsons’ and subcontract staff on remediation and environmental investigation programs.
• Support contract administration of remediation programs including tracking: schedule, size of excavation, tonnages of soils moving on and off site, amount of chemical injection, sub contractor’s labour and equipment hours and any contract quantities associated with the project.
• Work closely with project coordinators/managers, using your interpersonal and organizational skills, to communicate project data findings and timelines to ensure projects are completed on time and budget.
• Complete monitoring and groundwater sampling programs utilizing a wide variety of field equipment.
• Soil and sediment sample recovery, field testing, and documentation during drilling, test pitting and excavation activities.
• Maintain excellent field notes, including safety forms, project field reports, and laboratory chain-of-custody forms.
• Operation of various types of field monitoring equipment (e.g. GPS, data loggers, survey level, combustible gas meters, etc.).
• Always ensure health and safety policies are followed at all sites and on all projects.
• Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

• Diploma in earth sciences, environmental technology and engineering applications, engineering or similar programs and typically 4+ years of applicable field experience as a field technician supporting environmental assessment / remediation and/or infrastructure redevelopment projects (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
• Experience with supervising drilling, collecting and logging soil samples, collecting groundwater and surface water samples, and overseeing remediation.
• Valid Canadian driver’s license and access to personal vehicle
• Excellent written and oral communications skills and ability to operate self-sufficiently and safely in the field
• This work requires some physical exertion such as long periods of standing; walking over rough, uneven, or rocky surfaces; lifting; recurring bending or similar activities so willingness to perform physically demanding work in various weather conditions should be expected
• The ability to work on out-of-town assignments for extended periods of time.
• Oral communications skills and ability to operate self-sufficiently in the field.
• Resourceful, quick thinking and handy, ability to solve technical problems in the field

What Desired Skills You'll Bring:

• Certified as or ability to be certified as Environmental Technician (C.E.T)
• Experience with Designated and Hazardous Substance Surveys an Abatement
• Experience with Excess Soils management
• Academic and practical experience with soil classification

Salary Range: $19.95 - $39.18
