Accountability Objectives

Under the direction of the general manager, responsible for performing routine maintenance, service, and repair operations to maintain the facility, equipment, furnishings, fixtures, and grounds in accordance with applicable guidelines, codes, vision, values, and standards of Verve Senior Living.

Works with Housekeeping to ensure residents’ needs are met and the building quality, cleanliness, and safety standards are upheld.

Background / Qualifications
  • Minimum of grade 12
  • Knowledge of WHMIS and first aid
  • Certificate in building operations and/or 2-3 years’ experience in a maintenance environment
  • Computer skills (e.g., proficient in Word and Excel, familiar with online ordering systems and electronic building systems)
  • Demonstrated leadership skills (e.g., Verve Senior Living Competencies)
  • Communication skills in English, both written and verbal
  • Ability to read and interpret manuals and drawings related to equipment and systems, and audit / deficiency standards
  • Ability to organize, multitask, and meet physical demands, including problem solving and emergency response
  • Detail and task-oriented
  • Ability to meet targets and deadlines
Key Responsibilities
  • Oversees maintenance services ensuring legislative guidelines, codes, and expectations are met
  • Performs routine maintenance, servicing, and repairs to maintain the home, equipment, furnishings, fixtures, and grounds
  • Ensures efficient operation of building systems such as HVAC, electrical, mechanical, security, and communication
  • Establishes and manages a preventative maintenance program with regular inspections and record keeping
  • Responds promptly to service requests and maintains service records
  • Collaborates with Marketing to refurbish suites for new move-ins, invoicing damages to previous tenants
  • Assists residents with maintenance needs and supports department activities
  • Monitors service contracts and warranties, ensuring compliance and proof of checks
  • Maintains control of all Master keys
  • Performs outside work such as gardening, snow removal, and environmental spill cleanup
  • Contributes to fire prevention, infection control, and pest control programs
  • Supports departmental and residence operations, including strategic planning, financial management, and quality improvement initiatives
