Alberta Health Services (AHS) is looking for a dependable, highly motivated individual for the position of Environmental Services (Cleaner/Housekeeper) that is dedicated to both high-quality work and safety. This Casual position is located at the Sturgeon Community Hospital. The Environmental Service position is responsible for routine and isolation cleaning protocols, disinfecting patient rooms, clinical spaces, common areas, floor maintenance and assigned medical equipment, manual material handling daily, and other duties as assigned within healthcare facilities, in accordance with Alberta Health Services standards and practices. Environmental Services work is done in areas where patients, staff and visitors are present and involves frequent interactions with patients, clients and staff. This position will also perform non-routine and deep cleaning tasks as assigned, so you must be willing to work with powered industrial equipment. Environmental Services is about more than providing a pleasant atmosphere, it is about ensuring hospitals and healthcare facilities are properly cleaned, disinfected and maintained to provide a healthy environment for everyone.
As an Environmental Services staff, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks associated with cleaning and disinfecting clinical and non-clinical healthcare environments within a hospital or facility. Your typical duties may include sweeping, mopping and vacuuming; restocking supplies in bathroom facilities; stripping linen and making beds; operating industrial cleaning equipment for floor maintenance and restoration; thorough washing of ceilings and windows; emptying hazardous waste; and replenishing cleaning supplies and linens. You will also be responsible for identifying and reporting potential hazards to your Working Leader and you may also provide training or orientation to Environmental or Laundry staff.
