Job summary

Alberta Health Services (AHS) is seeking an Environmental Services Worker to clean and disinfect patient rooms, clinical areas, and other hospital spaces at Hythe Continuing Care Centre. Training will be provided to ensure adherence to AHS standards and safety practices.

The role includes day, evening, nights and weekend shifts with a competitive hourly rate and a remote retention allowance. Casual/relief opportunities are available, with varying shift patterns.

Qualifications

• Completion of Grade 10 or equivalent.
• Proficiency with computers and smartphones.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and perform repetitive movements.
• Capable of lifting up to 25 lbs and pushing/pulling up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Clean and disinfect patient rooms, clinical areas, offices, and common areas.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum; restock supplies in bathrooms.
• Operate cleaning equipment for floor maintenance and restoration.
• Identify hazards and report to supervisor; may train other staff.

Alberta Health Services (AHS) is looking for a dependable, highly motivated individual for the position of Environmental Services Worker (cleaner/housekeeper trained to work in healthcare) who is dedicated to both high-quality work and safety. AHS will provide the necessary training to safely clean and disinfect patient rooms, clinical areas, office areas, and other common staff/public areas in accordance with Alberta Health Services standards and practices. Shift schedules may include a combination of day, evening, nights, and weekend shifts. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay

Description:

As an Environmental Services staff, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks associated with cleaning and disinfecting clinical and non-clinical healthcare environments within a hospital or facility. Your typical duties may include sweeping, mopping and vacuuming; restocking supplies in bathroom facilities; stripping linen and making beds; operating industrial cleaning equipment for floor maintenance and restoration; thorough washing of ceilings and windows; emptying hazardous waste; and replenishing cleaning supplies and linens. You will also be responsible for identifying and reporting potential hazards to your Working Leader and you may also provide training or orientation to Environmental or Laundry staff.

Preference given to candidates with open availability to cover varying operational hours.
