• Knowledge of Joint Occupational Health and Safety regulations.
• Physical ability to perform manual tasks.
• Basic knowledge of building systems and maintenance tools.
• Must provide a Vulnerable Sector Check or be willing to obtain one.

Job description

The Opportunity
The Environmental Services Assistant, reporting to the Maintenance Manager, is responsible for executing routine repairs, performing minor maintenance, and ensuring a safe, clean, and well-maintained environment for residents, staff, and visitors.

What You Will Do

• Complete minor repair work, including doors, locks, window screens, and blinds, as well as replacing light bulbs, sockets, and switches.

• Perform basic plumbing tasks, such as unclogging drains and repairing leaking faucets or toilets.

• Carry out patching, painting, and caulking as required.

• Conduct routine cleaning duties, including sweeping, dusting, mopping, and vacuuming.

• Maintain outdoor areas, including snow and ice removal when necessary.

What You Bring

• High School Diploma or a recognized equivalent (relevant experience).

• Ability to follow oral and written instructions in English.

• Previous experience in maintenance, environmental services, or facility support is an asset.

• Knowledge of Joint Occupational Health and Safety regulations in alignment with WCB and the CCAL Act.

• Physical ability to perform manual tasks such as lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.

• Basic knowledge of building systems, maintenance tools, and safe handling of cleaning chemicals (WHMIS).

• Must provide a complete and current (within six months) Vulnerable Sector Check (including a Criminal Background Check) or be willing to obtain one.
