Job summary

City Cruises Gananoque is seeking an Environmental Services Agent to maintain cleanliness aboard vessels, in the restaurant, and in offices. This seasonal contract requires detail orientation and the ability to work alone or with others.

Benefits include complimentary cruise tickets, paid training, and crew events. Responsibilities include cleaning, sanitizing, waste disposal, stocking supplies, and ensuring safety standards.

Qualifications

  • O.S.S.D. or equivalent as recognized by the Ministry of Education.
  • Two years cleaning experience preferred.
  • Experience in a customer-oriented environment.
  • Willingness to work all shifts including weekends and holidays.
  • Energetic and enthusiastic; able to work independently or as a team.
  • Must lift up to 40 lbs and wear PPE as required.

Responsibilities

  • Keeps vessels in cruise-ready condition.
  • Maintains cleanliness of washrooms onboard and on land.
  • Checks and empties garbage/recycling bins as needed.
  • Sweeps, vacuums, mops inside and outside locations.
  • Cleans, disinfects and stores cleaning equipment after shifts.
  • Assists guests with information to enhance their experience.
  • Follows safety policies and helps maintain a hazard-free environment.
  • Completes Start of Day/End of Day checklists.

Position Summary:

The Environmental Services Agent crew member is dedicated and detail oriented. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards on the vessels, restaurant, and offices. As an Environmental Services Agent, you will play a crucial role in upholding our reputation for impeccable cleanliness and hygiene, ensuring that all areas are consistently sanitized and presentable to both crew members and customers.

*Please note this is a seasonal/contract position.*

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Keeps the vessels in cruise-ready condition
  • Maintains the cleanliness of the washrooms onboard and on land at all times
  • Checks all garbage and recycling bins, emptying them when necessary
  • Sweeps, vacuums, mops; inside and outside locations including onboard
  • Cleans, disinfects and stores all cleaning equipment at the end of their shift
  • Identifies, assesses, and addresses areas that require extra attention
  • Ability to work alone or with others to complete list of cleaning tasks
  • Lifts and moves equipment and furniture from one vessel to another as directed
  • Collects & disposes of garbage from kitchen, restaurant, vessels, common areas, administration building and recycling to the appropriate receptacles
  • Clean bathrooms regularly, including replenishing supplies such as soap and toilet paper; adhering to quality standards
  • Use checklists to complete Start of Day and End of Day tasks
  • Provides quality customer service, information, and instructions to guests as requested to enhance the guest experience as an ambassador to the organization while conducting necessary job duties
  • Works with good housekeeping practices and safety to promote a work environment free of hazards within the control of the staff on a daily basis
  • Assists kitchen staff and marine staff as needed
  • Applies practices and policies communicated and taught in training classes, safety talks and modules to assure quality, environmental, and safety standards are met
  • Assists coworkers to accomplish necessary projects and tasks; works together as a team
  • Adheres to all health and safety regulations
  • Works with a safety mindset by following all safety policies, procedures, and safety measures (i.e. PPE). Identifies and brings forward risks, hazards, and opportunities on the job. Actively participates in health and safety in the workplace
  • Maintains a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance (refer to appearance standards in employee handbook)
  • Reports to work on time and for all scheduled shifts
  • Understands all City Cruises Gananoque's policies and procedures relating to the employee's role within the company
  • Completes any other duties as assigned
Requirements & Qualifications:
  • O.S.S.D. or equivalent as recognized by the Ministry of Education
  • Two (2) years cleaning experience preferred
  • Experience in a customer-oriented environment
  • Must be willing to work all shifts including days/evenings shifts including weekends and holidays
  • Energetic and enthusiastic personality essential
  • Ability to deal with shifting priorities
  • Must have the ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Must be able to effectively understand and convey written and verbal information to guests and coworkers
  • Must possess a service orientation - actively looking for ways to help others
  • Will work for extended periods of time without sitting
  • Required to lift furniture and other heavy items up and down stairs
  • Full G driver's license with a clean driver's abstract
  • Ability to reach, bend, stoop, wipe, push, pull, move or lift up to 40 lbs (18 kgs)
  • Will be required to be available for work on all major holidays
  • If required, wear assigned Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) (i.e. non-slip shoes, gloves, goggles, weather appropriate dress attire)
