Job summary

Alberta Health Services is seeking a dependable Environmental Services staff member to join the Cleaner/Housekeeper team at Redwater Health Centre. You will perform cleaning and disinfection in clinical and non-clinical areas, restock supplies, and support staff, patients and families in a safe, clean hospital environment.

This CASUAL/Relief position involves operating industrial cleaning equipment, deep cleaning tasks, and reporting hazards.

Qualifications

• Completion of Grade 10 or equivalent.
• Knowledge and operation of computers and smartphones.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and perform repetitive movements.
• Physically capable to lift up to 25 lbs and push and pull up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Sweep, mop and vacuum; restock supplies in bathrooms.
• Strip linen and make beds; operate industrial cleaning equipment for floor maintenance.
• Thoroughly wash ceilings and windows; empty hazardous waste.
• Replenish cleaning supplies and linens; report hazards to supervisor.
• May provide training or orientation to Environmental or Laundry staff.

You are dependable, organized, time efficient, and experienced in working with chemical cleaners. Alberta Health Service looking for someone like you, who is dedicated to the highest standards of cleanliness, to join the Environmental Services team as a cleaner/housekeeper. You’ll create a more pleasant environment for staff, volunteers, patients, and families, and a safer one too through disinfection and cleaning.In this role, you will make a difference to staff, volunteers, patients and families alike. The Environmental Services – Cleaner/Housekeeper performs a range of cleaning services in clinical and non-clinical areas, including treatment rooms, staff areas, and public spaces. They will also perform non-routine and deep cleaning tasks, as well as use industrial equipment to perform their work.You will join a team of over 6,000 Environmental Service workers making a difference every day by cleaning, sanitizing, organizing, and restocking to make sure everyone’s experience at AHS is safe, clean, and healthy.

Description:

As an Environmental Services staff, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks associated with cleaning and disinfecting clinical and non-clinical healthcare environments within a hospital or facility. Your typical duties may include sweeping, mopping and vacuuming; restocking supplies in bathroom facilities; stripping linen and making beds; operating industrial cleaning equipment for floor maintenance and restoration; thorough washing of ceilings and windows; emptying hazardous waste; and replenishing cleaning supplies and linens. You will also be responsible for identifying and reporting potential hazards to your Working Leader and you may also provide training or orientation to Environmental or Laundry staff.

Preferred Qualifications:

Successful completion of a basic housekeeping program is an asset.
