Job summary

Hatch is seeking an Environmental Scientist / Engineering Trainee to join the EP&P team in Mississauga, with flexibility to work in other Hatch locations. The role blends field work with office tasks, supporting ecological studies, environmental assessments, and stakeholder coordination.

The successful candidate has a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, up to 2 years of experience, strong communication skills, and a readiness to travel.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or advanced diploma in Biology, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Studies, Geography or related field
  • 0-2 years of consulting experience; field work is a plus
  • Knowledge of environmental legislation and impact assessment processes is a plus
  • Willingness to travel periodically
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to baseline ecological studies and environmental assessments
  • Collect and synthesize literature and data for technical reports
  • Identify potential environmental impacts and recommend mitigation strategies
  • Support permitting and approvals related to environmental acts
  • Coordinate with environmental specialists and deliver projects within budgets and deadlines
