Job summary

GHD in Vancouver, BC is hiring an Intermediate Environmental Engineer/Scientist to join the Contaminated Assessments & Remediation team. You will contribute to environmental assessments, investigations, remediation and monitoring projects, working with PMs and senior staff.

The role requires a relevant Bachelor’s degree, 3+ years in environmental consulting, BC EIT/GIT designation, field work experience, and strong data interpretation and reporting skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in environmental engineering or earth sciences required.
• 3+ years of experience in environmental consulting required.
• Engineer or Geoscientist in training (EIT or GIT) designation within BC preferred.
• Strong understanding of BC Contaminated Sites Regulation and guidance required.
• Demonstrated field work experience.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks with high detail in a consulting environment.
• Flexibility with project types and responsibilities; strong client management is a plus.

We are currently seeking an Intermediate Environmental Engineer/Scientist to join our team in Vancouver, BC. The Vancouver office of GHD has an established Contaminated Assessments & Remediation team delivering a wide range of environmental assessment, investigation, remediation, and monitoring projects.

Our team supports projects involving Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), corrective action plans, soil remediation, groundwater and soil investigations, drilling and test pitting programs, water and soil sampling, erosion and sediment control, environmental monitoring, construction supervision, and environmental impact assessments.

What you will bring to the team:

• Working with Project Manager and senior staff in all aspects of project work including scope development, scheduling, budgeting, analysis and reporting
• Interact with internal and external clients, contractors and service providers
• Data compilation, reduction and interpretation
• Preparation of technical environmental reports for senior review for annual monitoring and sampling programs, environmental investigation (Stage 1 and 2 Preliminary Site Investigations (PSIs), Detailed Site Investigation (DSIs) and Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs)), hydrogeological assessments, remedial works
• Assisting with development, coordinating and implementing environmental investigations for Stage 1 and 2 PSIs, DSIs and Phase I and II ESAs
• Working with senior staff in developing viable remedial options for contaminated sites and implementing the remedial work plans and hazardous material assessments
• Assisting with preparing proposals
• Oversight and implementation of field investigations; monitoring and sampling programs, drilling, remediation, hydrogeological assessments for various media including soil, groundwater, surface water, soil vapour and air
• Some travel to sites throughout BC and Alberta

Who are we looking for?

• Relevant Bachelor’s Degree in environmental engineering or earth sciences
• 3+ years of experience in environmental consulting
• Engineer or Geoscientist in training (EIT or GIT) designation within BC
• Strong understanding and experience of the BC Contaminated Sites Regulation and associated guidance, protocols, etc. is required. Previous work under Canadian Energy Regulator managed sites is an asset.
• Demonstrated experience conducting field work
• Experience managing multiple tasks while maintaining a high degree of attention to detail in a consulting environment is preferred
• Must be flexible with project types and responsibilities
• Proven project management and client management skills are an asset

The salary range for this position in Vancouver BC is between $77,550 and $129,250 based on experience.

The salary range is based on the preferred work location. If the selected candidate’s location differs, changes to the salary range may apply.
