Are you seeking a career to apply your education and experience in environmental and regulatory inspections to protect Alberta's environment and public health?
The Environmental Protection Officer is responsible for delivering services to industry, municipalities, government, and the public, balancing technical tasks with compliance program outcomes. These services involve administering the Environmental Protection and Enhancement Act (EPEA), Water Act, and Climate Change and Emissions Management Act.
Reporting to the Compliance Assurance Lead, this full-level position involves assisting and coaching junior staff, acting as a technical resource, and conducting inspections and investigations.
This role also involves investigating non-compliance issues, using legislative authorities and departmental policies, and acting as an Emergency Regional Responder on a rotational basis.
This position is Monday–Friday, 36.25 hours/week, with on-call emergency work and some travel. Final candidates will undergo security screening. Application costs and travel expenses are the candidate's responsibility.
