Environmental Project Manager

We seek an Environmental Project Manager to lead diverse energy and infrastructure environmental assessment and planning projects, with a focus on the transportation and energy sectors. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with environmental standards and regulations related to assessments and permitting, demonstrate motivation and attention to detail, and have proven experience in Canada. This is a mid-level role based in Ontario, preferably in the GTA, but other locations will be considered.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Leading and coordinating environmental permitting activities for transportation and energy projects within a broader delivery team.
  • Guiding efforts to obtain and ensure compliance with environmental approvals/permits from municipal, provincial, and federal agencies.
  • Managing project scope, budget, schedule, and quality oversight.
  • Developing and implementing consultation and engagement programs, including interactions with First Nations and Indigenous communities.
  • Managing external subcontractors independently.
  • Delegating tasks to junior staff and providing technical guidance.
  • Contributing to proposal development, qualification documents, and business development activities.
  • Engaging with clients and regulatory agencies to ensure project delivery within timelines.
  • Supporting growth in environmental planning and assessment market share in strategic markets.
  • Mentoring junior and intermediate professionals.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Planning, Science, or related field.
  • 15-20 years of experience managing environmental assessments and securing permits, especially in transportation and energy sectors.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks.
  • Experience with transportation and energy regulators is advantageous.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Knowledge of environmental project management including cost control, scope, and scheduling.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in fast-paced engineering or consulting environments.
  • Membership in professional bodies (e.g., RPP, PMP, EP) is a plus.
  • Valid driver’s license.
