You will oversee project execution, mentor high-performing teams, and drive strategic growth in environmental services.

What You Can Expect to Do Here

As an Environmental Project Director, you will play a pivotal leadership role in delivering technically sound, regulatory-compliant, and client-focused environmental solutions across Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba.

More specifically, your responsibilities will include:

  • Technical Oversight & Project Leadership
    • Provide technical direction and quality assurance for environmental projects, including Phase I and II ESAs, In-Stu and Ex-situ remedial options, and risk assessments.
    • Oversee the full project lifecycle—from proposal development to execution—ensuring scope, budget, schedule, and quality targets are met.
    • Review and guide the preparation of regulatory submissions, technical reports, and closure plans.
  • Client & Stakeholder Engagement
    • Act as a trusted advisor to clients, proactively managing relationships and ensuring expectations are exceeded.
    • Liaise with regulatory bodies and advocate for practical, science-based solutions.
  • Team Development & Mentorship
    • Mentor junior and intermediate staff, fostering technical growth and leadership readiness.
    • Support field teams through site visits and hands-on guidance.
    • Champion a culture of safety, inclusion, and continuous improvement.
  • Strategic Collaboration
    • Partner with the national RPM team and cross-functional WSP groups to deliver integrated solutions.
    • Contribute to business development efforts, including RFP responses and client presentations.
    • Inspire alignment with WSP’s guiding principles and corporate vision.

What You’ll Bring to WSP

  • A post-secondary degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 10–15 years of experience managing contaminated sites in Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba.
  • Professional registration in one or more Prairie provinces (e.g., P.Ag., P.Chem., P.Eng., P.Geo., RPBio).
  • Proven expertise in fieldwork, technical reporting, and project management.
  • Deep knowledge of provincial contaminated sites regulations and closure requirements.

  • Excellent communication skills—written, verbal, and interpersonal.
  • A collaborative mindset and commitment to fostering an inclusive team culture.
