You will coordinate environmental services across transit projects, ensuring regulatory compliance and engaging with Indigenous communities and stakeholders. The role requires a master's or bachelor's in a related field and at least 5 years of Ontario transportation environmental planning experience, ideally in consulting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Planning, Engineering, Environmental Science or a related field (biology, ecology, geography etc.).
  • Minimum 5 years or more of relevant experience in the Transportation Environmental Planning sector in Ontario, preferably in a consulting environment.
  • Demonstrated experience navigating provincial and federal environmental permitting, legislation, and regulatory requirements in Ontario.
  • Demonstrated experience with provincial EA legislation under Ontario's EA Act (e.g., Municipal Class EA, Ministry of Transportation [MTO], Infrastructure Ontario, Metrolinx/TRPAP etc.), and knowledge of federal EA legislation
  • Demonstrated experience collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

  • Support environmental planning and permitting throughout the lifecycle of a project, working with a multi-disciplinary team of planners, engineers, and environmental specialists.
  • Be part of a team working on a variety of complex projects delivering environmental assessments, environmental permitting/approvals, and environmental compliance monitoring with a focus on Ministry of Transportation Ontario (MTO) projects.
  • Stay current with relevant regulations and ensure project activities are in compliance with environmental standards under municipal, provincial, and federal legislation
  • Identify environmental permitting needs for projects and develop delivery schedules.
  • Support and oversee the preparation of permit inputs, regulatory filings, and environmental management plans.
  • Coordinate and provide technical writing support for projects.
  • Coordinate discipline and project-specific environmental studies.
  • Support engagement efforts with Indigenous communities, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with members of the public, government and non-government communities, associations, tenure holders, and Indigenous communities.
  • In a collaborative manner, assist in expanding our client portfolio, including support for Business Development and proposal efforts.
  • Develop staff through on-the-job mentorship.

Jacobs is currently looking to hire an Environmental Planner Transportatiion to join our dynamic team in a full-time role based out of our Toronto, Ontario office in a hybrid work-home environment. In this position, you will provide technical coordination and guidance in the delivery of environmental services as part of Jacobs’ growing transportation design and program management portfolio. This includes interfacing with our multi-disciplinary teams, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and supporting stakeholder and Indigenous consultation and engagement. The base salary range for this position is $68,300.00 to $106,700.00. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across Ontario, Canada locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
