Job Description:

Environmental Planner (Eastern Ontario & Halifax)

We are seeking highly motivated and enthusiastic candidates for an intermediate-level Environmental Planner to support Parsons Infrastructure business.

We are flexible regarding office location in Kingston, Ottawa, or Halifax.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support senior Environmental Planners and mentor junior staff on Environmental Assessment (EA) projects, including Municipal and Transit projects, and Environmental Impact Statements/Environmental Effect Evaluations for municipal, provincial, and federal projects.
  • Participate in infrastructure projects involving report writing, evaluation of alternatives, impact assessment, and development of project consultation programs.
  • Assist with proposal preparation and client liaison.
  • Coordinate with subconsultants.
  • Lead and coordinate EA processes.
Skills & Qualifications:
  • 8+ years of relevant experience.
  • Post-secondary education in planning, environmental science/studies, biology/ecology, geography, or related fields.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Environmental Assessments including Municipal Class EA, Transit Project Assessment Process, Canadian Impact Assessment Act, Ministry of Transportation Class EA Process.
  • Experience in Ontario infrastructure projects, including local/regional municipalities, MTO, Metrolinx, TTC.
  • Eligibility for a Registered Professional Planner (RPP) or Canadian Institute of Planners (MCIP) is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with environmental permitting and approvals process.
  • Strong technical writing skills.
  • Knowledge of environmental policies, legislation, and applicable law at local, provincial, and federal levels.
  • French language skills are considered an asset.
