Overview

As the Environmental Lead on our Surrey-Langley Skytrain Extension Program, you will ensure the day-to-day implementation of the Environmental Management System and audit and report on its performance. Under the direction of the Environmental Manager, you will provide oversight to a team of Coordinators and Monitors to effectively address and manage project environmental matters.

What you will be doing
  • Manage simple to moderately complex environmental issues associated with the Project on a day-to-day basis.
  • Oversee the team of Environmental Coordinators and Environmental Monitors, providing direction and advice, and working collaboratively to identify and implement solutions to environmental issues.
  • Ensure effective implementation of the Construction Environmental Management Plan (CEMP) and Environmental Work Plans (EWPs) on a day-to-day basis.
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with relevant Environmental Authorities and Interested Parties.
  • Ensure environmental issues and requirements are met in accordance with the Project Agreement.
  • Work closely with the design and construction teams to ensure all environmental aspects are addressed and project schedules are met.
  • Coordinate with environmental sub-contractors to provide specialty input and direction.
  • Develop new and revised Environmental Work Plans as required.
  • Provide environmental training and support where required.
  • Work with client representatives to resolve identified issues and opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with all related environmental activities; identify and manage risks; verifies and monitors associated training requirements.
What we are looking for
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Engineering or a related environmental field required.
  • Professional designation (RPBio, P.Geol, P.Eng) preferred.
  • 8 - 10 years of experience in environmental regulatory and construction industry compliance.
  • Ability to oversee and/or to lead a team on project efforts.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Provincial and Federal Environmental Acts and Regulations
  • Knowledge of construction environmental mitigation and monitoring measures.
  • Demonstrated ability to write environmental work plans, procedures, manuals, standard operating procedures, and other related material as required.
  • Effective communication skills, data organization and technical reporting skills.
  • Proficiency with computer programs for managing and communicating environmental data.
  • Valid BC driver’s license.
