Job description

We’re seeking an Environmental Lead to oversee water quality monitoring, environmental compliance, and reporting for our freshwater hatchery facilities. This role is based out of our Blacks Harbour NB office.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Conduct hatchery water sampling in accordance with regulatory standards
  • Monitor environmental conditions across freshwater hatchery facilities
  • Oversee bio-filter start-up procedures and ongoing performance monitoring
  • Perform routine water quality assessments and maintain accurate records
  • Compile and submit weekly and monthly sampling and monitoring data
  • Prepare license applications
  • Prepare groundwater reports and annual environmental reports for regulatory agencies
  • Draft remediation plans, as needed
  • Coordinate and perform sampling for submission to the New Brunswick Department of Environment and Local Government

Working Conditions :

  • Work is performed in both indoor and outdoor hatchery environments, including exposure to cold and wet conditions
  • Fast-paced setting requiring adaptability and attention to detail
  • Combination of office-based tasks and fieldwork, including travel between facilities as needed

Qualifications :

  • Familiar with freshwater operations would an asset

  • Able to work independently and as a team
  • Comfortable with Microsoft office particularly Word, Excel, Teams and Outlook
