Project Director – Environment Department

Overview: As Project Director in the Environment department, you will develop, coordinate, and execute environmental studies, government approval applications, and environmental site management projects across the energy, mining and heavy industry sectors. The position is a regular full‑time role.

Responsibilities

• Manage and lead all steps required to carry out projects.
• Understand the scope of responsibilities and associated challenges.
• Establish tasks, budgets, and schedules to complete mandates.
• Coordinate a team of biologists and environmental technicians.
• Serve as liaison between senior manager and team, reporting progress.
• Develop work protocols and estimate time, direct and indirect costs.
• Perform and coordinate field surveys, analyses, sampling, report writing, and client presentations.
• Coordinate applications for government approvals and liaise with authorities.
• Plan and manage meetings with team members and external stakeholders or contractors.
• Monitor team progress, assess performance, and motivate when necessary.
• Ensure deadlines and budgets are met; notify senior manager to renegotiate if needed.
• Act as mediator and resolve conflicts among team members and subcontractors.
• Produce documents such as impact studies, surveys, inventories, follow‑up reports, adapted to intended clients.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Biology or equivalent education.
• Strong knowledge of Québec’s Quality Environment Act and related regulations.
• At least 10 years of relevant experience.
• Technical knowledge in water and natural environmental management, botany, ichthyology, agriculture, habitat restoration, environmental impact assessment, biophysical data collection, and report writing.
• Experience in environmental site monitoring.
• Ability to understand ecological and social complexities of projects.
• Excellent communication in French (spoken and written).
• Advanced English proficiency for collaboration with BBA offices or clients outside Québec.
• Available for short‑term assignments at client sites.
• Asset: Master’s degree in Biology, Environment or relevant field.
