WSP’s Mining Environmental Approvals Team has an opportunity for an Environmental Impact Assessment / Environmental Approvals Technical Manager or Technical Director.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Be a leader within a highly skilled approvals team, liaise with clients and regulators in order to document, negotiate and gain federal and provincial environmental approvals for mining projects
  • Provide technical and regulatory support to mining projects, working collaboratively with our in-house experts in hydrology, hydrogeology, geochemistry, aquatic resources and engineering
  • Produce high quality project documents adhering to WSP’s requirements for quality, as well as our client’s budget and schedule expectations.

What you'll bring to WSP:

  • Undergraduate or Master's degree in an appropriate science-based or engineering discipline from a recognized university such as in environmental studies, biology, geosciences or engineering (candidates with other education credentials with relevant experience may be considered).
  • Fifteen years’ or more experience writing and delivering environmental / impact assessments, environmental approvals or similar work, for natural resource projects in a Canadian northern environment. Experience with the environmental / impact assessment and approvals processes applicable to northern Ontario mining projects is an asset.
  • Attention to detail and exceptional communicator (both written and verbal) in English.
  • High degree of technical competence and understanding of the environmental issues related to open pit and underground mining.
  • Self-starter who enjoys working in a team environment, having an ability to multi-task and work with multidisciplinary project teams to execute projects collaboratively.
  • Qualified candidates with more or less years or experience will also be considered for similar roles commensurate with their experience.
