Alberta Health Services (AHS) is seeking a dependable, motivated individual for the position of Environmental Services I (Cleaner/Housekeeper) at the Sturgeon Community Hospital. The role involves cleaning and disinfecting patient rooms, clinical areas, and common spaces in accordance with AHS standards. Training will be provided. Responsibilities include cleaning medical equipment, manual handling, and maintaining a safe environment. Shift schedules may include days, evenings, nights, and weekends.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine cleaning and disinfecting of healthcare environments
  • Sweep, mop, vacuum, restock supplies, and change linens
  • Report hazards to supervisors
Qualifications:
  • Completion of Grade 10 or equivalent
  • Knowledge of computer operations and Microsoft Office
  • Ability to stand, walk, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods
  • Physically capable of lifting up to 22 lbs
  • Ability to operate a smartphone and follow instructions in English
  • Dependability, thoroughness, and ability to work independently
  • Experience with chemical cleaners and safety protocols is preferred
Additional Information:
  • Must attend a 4-day Environmental Services Orientation and a 1-day AHS Orientation
  • Preferred: 1+ year hospital cleaning experience, knowledge of WHMIS, safety courses
