Position Details

• Hourly Rate: $48.49 - $53.14
• Shift: Monday to Friday, 35 hours/week

Responsibilities

• Review and prepare reports on environmental health and food safety issues, including remediation plans, environmental reports, risk management, and standards.
• Conduct studies, surveys, and site impact analyses to recommend changes.
• Draft by-laws, policies, procedures, and contingency plans to reduce health hazards.
• Support program development, data tracking, community engagement, and media campaigns.
• Coordinate laboratory analysis and interpret results.
• Collaborate with external agencies and stakeholders to identify community health needs.
• Represent the division at public meetings and provide technical input and presentations.
• Participate in training, committees, and on-site inspections, and respond to environmental emergencies.
• Engage in special projects like water quality monitoring and food safety campaigns.

Key Qualifications

• Master’s in Public Health, Environmental Health, or equivalent experience.
• Experience in policy development, environmental health literature review, and investigation of health hazards.

Additional Requirements

• Knowledge of Ontario statutes and standards.
• Project management skills, ability to meet deadlines, and good communication skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office and databases.
• Flexibility to work varied hours; familiarity with change management is a plus.
