Tarkett is seeking a hands-on EHS Manager to develop, establish, and maintain an environmental health and safety program that meets or exceeds all regulatory requirements, providing a safe work environment free of hazards with a goal of zero work-related injuries or illnesses, using a behavioral-based approach. This role is located in Farnham and reports to the Operation Site Director.

Responsibilities

  1. Act as the primary EHS support for the site, responsible for all aspects and reporting related to EHS.
  2. Serve as the main safety and environmental advocate for the site.
  3. Assist with all aspects of the Environmental Health and Safety program.
  4. Ensure compliance with Safe Work Practices (SWP), regulatory standards (CNESST, Code du bâtiment), and plant policies.
  5. Conduct training, assessments, audits, and investigations as part of the World Class Manufacturing system.
  6. Manage ISO EHS requirements and the audit process for certification maintenance.
  7. Develop and deliver safety training presentations for various audiences, including new hires and temporary staff.
  8. Provide EHS orientation for new and temporary employees.
  9. Ensure contractor and vendor personnel comply with plant EHS policies and procedures.
  10. Perform and document behavioral safety observations, analyzing data to identify corrective actions.
  11. Develop strategic risk mitigation strategies based on data analysis.
  12. Maintain EHS databases and support plant EHS initiatives.
  13. Prepare monthly and annual EHS reports for the plant.
  14. Conduct ergonomic assessments of equipment and workstations.
  15. Research and recommend safety equipment and PPE, ensuring proper use and maintenance.
  16. Manage workers' compensation claims and return-to-work programs.
  17. Promote a 'Safety First' culture as an EHS Champion.

Qualifications

  1. Associates Degree in Safety, Industrial Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or related field preferred.
  2. At least five years of experience in EHS, preferably in a unionized manufacturing environment.
  3. Strong knowledge of local, provincial, and federal safety and environmental regulations.
  4. Experience with regulatory reporting, air permits, and hazardous waste management.
  5. Understanding of workers' compensation law and return-to-work programs.
  6. Strong root cause analysis and corrective action skills, with facilitation experience in RCCA.
  7. Bilingual proficiency in French and English, both verbal and written, including technical writing.
  8. Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills.
  9. Ability to interact effectively at all organizational levels.
  10. Advanced skills in Microsoft Office.
  11. Flexibility to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends, to support a 24/7 operation.
  12. Willingness to spend significant time on the plant floor.
