Our client in the automotive manufacturing sector is seeking a Health & Safety Supervisor to lead their plant-level HSE initiatives. This role provides oversight and guidance to ensure a safe, healthful, and compliant workplace in alignment with ISO45001, ISO14001, OHSA, WSIA, and corporate standards. The Supervisor will play a critical leadership role in driving safety culture, mentoring team members, and embedding continuous improvement across all health, safety, and environmental programs.

Responsibilities:
- Leadership & Oversight
- Supervise HSE Specialists/Coordinators and provide direction on day-to-day safety, health, and environmental matters.
- Act as the primary HSE contact for plant leadership and serve as a trusted advisor on regulatory compliance and risk management.
- Program Management
- Oversee the maintenance and continuous improvement of the Occupational Health & Safety Management System (OHSMS) and Environmental Management System (EMS).
- Lead internal and external audits, inspections, hazard assessments, and incident investigations; ensure corrective/preventive actions are implemented and tracked.
- Manage contractor safety programs, Joint Health & Safety Committee (JHSC) activities, and Zero Harm initiatives.
- Training & Communication
- Oversee delivery of HSE training, onboarding programs, and employee engagement initiatives.
- Ensure accurate and timely updates of records, dashboards, and safety communication boards.
- Injury & Case Management
- Oversee occupational injury/illness management, liaising with WSIB and leading safe and timely return-to-work programs.
- Monitor ergonomic programs, chemical inventory, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and WHMIS compliance.
- Reporting & Continuous Improvement
- Collect, analyze, and report HSE, sustainability, and energy metrics in internal systems (e.g., HSELinx).
- Recommend and implement improvements to safety culture, risk reduction, and environmental stewardship.
Requirements:
- 6+ years of progressive experience in Health, Safety, and Environmental roles within the manufacturing sector; at least 2 years in a supervisory or team-lead capacity.
- In-depth knowledge of OHSA, WSIA, ISO45001, ISO14001, WHMIS, and related regulations.
- Strong experience in audits, incident investigations, and regulatory reporting.
- Familiarity with HSE software systems (e.g., HSELinx) considered an asset.
- Post-secondary education in Occupational Health & Safety or related discipline; CRSP designation preferred.
- Proven leadership, coaching, and team-building skills.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder engagement abilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to travel between plants and adjust hours based on operational needs.
