Job description

Summary

Tarkett is seeking a hands-on EHS Manager to develop, establish, and maintain an environmental health and safety program that aims to meet or exceed all regulatory requirements and provides a safe work environment free of hazards, striving for zero work-related injuries and illnesses using a behavioral-based approach. This role is located in Farnham and reports to the Operation Site Director.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary EHS support for the site, responsible for all aspects and EHS reporting.
  • Serve as the main advocate for safety and environmental support at the site.
  • Assist with all aspects of the Environmental Health and Safety program.
  • Ensure compliance with Safe Work Practices (SWP), regulatory standards (CNESST, code du bâtiment), and plant policies and procedures.
  • Conduct training, assessments, audits, and investigations as part of the World Class Manufacturing management system.
  • Manage ISO EHS requirements and the audit process for ongoing certification.
  • Develop and deliver safety training presentations for various audiences.
  • Provide EHS orientation to new and temporary employees.
  • Ensure proper training and compliance for contractor and vendor personnel.
  • Perform, document, and analyze behavioral safety observations.
  • Analyze data to identify trends and implement corrective actions and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Maintain databases and software supporting the EHS department and initiatives.
  • Prepare monthly and annual EHS reports for the plant.
  • Conduct ergonomic assessments of equipment and workstations.
  • Research and recommend safety equipment and PPE, ensuring proper use and maintenance.
  • Manage workers' compensation claims and return-to-work programs.
  • Promote a safety-first culture as an EHS Champion.

Qualifications

  • Associates Degree in Safety, Industrial Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or related discipline preferred.
  • At least five years of experience in environmental, health, and safety, preferably in a unionized manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of local, provincial, and federal safety and environmental regulations.
  • Experience with regulatory reporting, air permits, and hazardous waste management.
  • Knowledge of workers' compensation laws and return-to-work programs.
  • Strong root cause analysis and corrective action skills, with the ability to facilitate RCCA sessions.
  • Excellent bilingual (French and English) communication skills, including technical writing.
  • Interpersonal and presentation skills capable of engaging all organizational levels.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends, and spend significant time on the plant floor.
