Job summary

Siemens Canada is seeking an Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist to advance COR, ISO 45001/14001 programs and drive safety culture across projects and operations. You will work with business leaders, project teams, and employees to ensure regulatory and customer requirements are met while continuously improving EHS practices.

The role requires 3–5 years in EHS, COR Auditor certification, and experience with prequalification databases (ISN, Avetta, SafeContractor).

Qualifications

• Graduate of an Environmental Health Safety program or equivalent.
• 3–5 years’ experience in Occupational Health and Safety.
• COR Auditor Certification for Alberta or British Columbia is required.
• Experience maintaining pre-qualification databases to ensure compliance with customer requirements (e.g., ISN, Avetta, SafeContractor).

What will you do?

The Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist supports the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of Siemens' EHS programs and initiatives. Working closely with business leaders, project teams, and employees, this role helps ensure compliance with regulatory, customer, and company requirements while fostering a strong culture of safety across operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Health, Safety & Environmental (EHS) Program Management

• Support maintenance of Health, Safety and Environment programs to meet Siemens, Certificate of Recognition (COR), ISO standards, as well as mandated customer / project requirements.
• Support implementation, evaluation, and assessments of new EHS programs / tools to meet company objectives.
• Monitor and support various aspects of new initiatives rolled out within the EHS program.
• Continuously support improvement of the Health, Safety and Environment programs by updating hazard assessments, identification of aspects / impacts, JSAs, safe work policies and procedures in collaboration with the Business.
• Assist in preparation and information management of EHS reports, written programs, procedures, and other related documents.

Compliance, Prequalification & Administration

• Perform maintenance of pre-qualification databases to ensure compliance with customer requirements.
• Support Supplier Pre-Qualification process.
• Support Workers Compensation claim management.

Project & Operational Safety Support

• Support the Business with development and implementation of effective Project Safety Plan including job safety analysis, safe work practices as well as hazard / risk assessments and incident investigation as required.
• Liaise with Business and provide support on ongoing projects.

Incident Management & Risk Prevention

• Support incident investigation for injuries or near misses, to identify root causes, trends, prevention strategies and report findings and lessons learned in Siemens’ tools.
• Conduct site safety inspections as required.

Training & Employee Support

• Support safety training program: monitor, assign and track EHS training for all employees.

Location:

This is a hybrid role (on-site/off-site). Must reside within reasonable commuting distance of either the Siemens Edmonton or Calgary office and be able to attend the office as required for business meetings, training, collaboration, or other operational needs including client sites.

What will you need to succeed?

Education, Experience & Certifications:

• Graduate of an Environmental Health Safety program at a recognized College or University or industry recognized program or equivalent work experience.
• 3-5 years’ experience in Occupational, Health and Safety role.
• COR Auditor Certification for Alberta or British Columbia is a must. Candidates whose certification has expired within the last 12 months, with the ability to obtain recertification, will be considered.
• Experience performing maintenance of pre-qualification databases to ensure compliance with customer requirements. Ie. ISN, Avetta, SafeContractor.

Asset(s):

• Safety professional designation or certification (e.g., NCSO).
• Experience in the construction industry.

EHS Knowledge & Technical Expertise:

• Demonstrated knowledge of COR, EHS Management Systems including ISO 45001, 14001.
• Comprehensive knowledge in Canadian occupational health and safety legislation, workers’ compensation and return to work programs.
• Knowledge in the area of ergonomics, root cause and hazard analysis, risk assessment, safe work practice or job safety analysis development, incident investigation.
• Advanced skills in MS Office 365, Power Apps, SharePoint, Teams and other digital tools.

Additional requirements:

• Travel required up to 30% of the time within Canada.
• A valid and unrestricted G/Class 5 driver’s licence and personal vehicle is required to participate in the Siemens Fleet Program and for travel to customer sites within assigned region(s).
