Job Description

Key Responsibilities

Health & Safety

  • Develop and implement policies and procedures that promote a safe working environment and ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations.

  • Conduct routine safety inspections and risk assessments, recommending and following through on corrective actions.

  • Support onsite leadership as a SME (subject matter expert) duringincident investigations and root cause analysis; implement and monitor corrective and preventive actions.

  • Coordinate and deliver H&S training programs and toolbox talks to employees at all levels.

  • Track safety performance metrics and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.

Environmental Compliance

  • Maintain and support the site’s Environmental Management System in alignment with ISO 14001.

  • Ensure completion of environmental monitoring, sampling, reporting, and documentation requirements.

  • Coordinate and support internal and external environmental audits, inspections, and regulatory visits.

  • Manage and track hazardous materials and waste in accordance with applicable regulations.

Sustainability Initiatives

  • Support and contribute to corporate sustainability goals, including energy efficiency, waste reduction, and resource conservation efforts.

  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to identify and implement sustainability projects that deliver measurable environmental and social impact.

  • Develop sustainability metrics and assist in compiling data for internal and external reporting.

Collaboration & Reporting

  • Serve as a subject matter expert and resource for EHS&S-related matters across departments.

  • Prepare and present EHS&S reports and metrics to management and other stakeholders.

  • Stay current with evolving regulatory requirements, environmental and sustainability standards, and health and safety best practices.

Qualifications
  • Post-secondary education in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Sustainability, or a related field.

  • Proven experience in EHS&S within a manufacturing or industrial environment.

  • Experience supporting ISO 45001:2018 certification and ensure ongoing eligibility.

  • Working knowledge of ISO 14001 and applicable health and safety legislation.

  • Experience leading risk assessments, audits, and sustainability initiatives.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; able to train and influence others at all levels.

  • Excellent time management, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; EHS data systems experience is an asset.

  • Ability to adapt to flexible work demands within a multi-shift manufacturing environment.
