Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist

Key Responsibilities

Health & Safety

• Develop and implement policies promoting a safe workplace, ensuring compliance with occupational health and safety regulations.
• Conduct safety inspections and risk assessments, recommending corrective actions.
• Support onsite leadership during incident investigations and root cause analysis; oversee corrective and preventive measures.
• Coordinate and deliver H&S training and toolbox talks at all employee levels.
• Monitor safety performance metrics and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Maintain the Environmental Management System aligned with ISO 14001 standards.
• Handle environmental monitoring, sampling, reporting, and documentation.
• Support internal and external audits, inspections, and regulatory visits.
• Manage hazardous materials and waste in compliance with regulations.

Sustainability Initiatives

• Contribute to corporate sustainability goals such as energy efficiency, waste reduction, and resource conservation.
• Collaborate across teams to identify and implement impactful sustainability projects.
• Develop metrics and compile data for reporting purposes.
• Serve as a resource for EHS&S topics across departments.
• Prepare and present reports and metrics to management and stakeholders.
• Stay updated on evolving regulations, standards, and best practices.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Sustainability, or related fields.
• Experience in EHS&S within manufacturing or industrial environments.
• Support ISO 45001:2018 certification and maintain eligibility.
• Knowledge of ISO 14001 and relevant legislation.
• Experience leading risk assessments, audits, and sustainability projects.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and training skills.
• Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with EHS data systems is a plus.
• Flexible and adaptable to multi-shift manufacturing environments.
