About the Role

GrizzlyTrek is actively seeking a highly experienced and impactful Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Manager to lead and enforce health, safety, and environmental performance across our Stouffville and Newmarket operations. This senior leadership role is ideal for someone with a commanding presence in all aspects of HSE, blending deep field expertise with strong regulatory and administrative oversight.

We need a proactive leader who can bridge policy and practice, ensuring legislative compliance while fostering a resilient, safety-first culture throughout the organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and enhance all HSE systems, policies, and training programs across multiple operational environments.

  • Conduct routine site visits to ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations, including inspection of documentation and operational practices.

  • Ensure alignment with all applicable legislation, regulatory agencies, and internal company standards.

  • Lead and coordinate incident investigations, root cause analysis, and reporting requirements.

  • Review and revise SOPs, SWPs, JHAs, PDAs/PDDs annually or as needed to maintain best-in-class standards.

  • Monitor and manage WCB (Workers’ Compensation Board) programs, with an emphasis on cost control and claim reduction.

  • Facilitate culturally relevant training and safety awareness across diverse teams, including Indigenous workforce partners.

  • Ensure all environmental permitting, emissions tracking, and compliance reporting are accurate and submitted on schedule.

  • Liaise with senior leadership, project managers, and regulatory officials to maintain clear communication and compliance.

Qualifications
  • 10+ years of progressive leadership in HSE roles, ideally within construction, energy, or industrial sectors.

  • Degree or diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Sciences, or a related field.

  • Designations: NCSO and Environmental Professional (EP) required; additional certification in Quality Assurance is considered a strong asset.

  • Strong knowledge of legal contract obligations and regulatory frameworks (OHSA, CEPA, WSIB, etc.).

  • Exceptional writing and documentation skills to produce accurate reports, safety documents, and communications.

  • Detail-oriented with a proactive eye for identifying near misses, hazards, and incident risk.

  • High-level analytical and organizational skills, with a strategic mindset and a hands-on leadership approach.

  • Experience supporting Indigenous workforce engagement and culturally responsive HSE practices is highly valued.
