Job summary

Stantec Consulting International Ltd. is seeking Environmental Field Technician roles to support a major oil sands project in northern Alberta, with a two-weeks-in/two-weeks-out rotation. You will join a multidisciplinary team, conduct environmental and geotechnical field activities, collect and manage data, and ensure safety and quality in field operations.

Flights and camp accommodations are provided from Calgary, Edmonton or Fort McMurray.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting environmental and geotechnical field programs (drilling, soil sampling, test pitting, site monitoring)
  • Ability to collect, manage, and maintain accurate field data and documentation
  • Clear and effective communication with engineers, contractors, and clients
  • Valid Alberta driver’s license and ability to work in a fly-in/fly-out camp setting

Responsibilities

  • Support field investigations and monitoring as part of a multidisciplinary team focused on safe, high-quality project delivery
  • Contribute to the successful delivery of a high-profile, multi-year oil sands project while representing Stantec with professionalism and technical integrity
  • Work in a two-weeks-in/two-weeks-out rotation and coordinate travel/logistics from Calgary, Edmonton or Fort McMurray

Our Environmental Services group is building a talent pool of Environmental Field Technicians and Professionals to support a major fly-in/fly-out project in Fort McMurray, expected to begin in Q4 2026 and continue for approximately five years. Upon successful submission of your application, you will be considered for current and future opportunities. Stantec will keep your application in our recruiting system as a potential candidate who could possibly fill a position when or if the need arises.

Working on a two-weeks-in / two-weeks-out rotation, you will support field investigations and monitoring as part of a multidisciplinary team focused on safe, high-quality project delivery. Flights and camp accommodations are provided, with travel originating from Calgary, Edmonton, or Fort McMurray.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

Looking for Junior (less than 3 years) and Intermediate (3 to 9 years) professionals.

Environmental Field Technician
  • Technical diploma or degree in environmental science, site assessment, geotechnical engineering technology, or a related field
  • Demonstrated commitment to a strong safety culture, following all Health and Safety policies
  • Experience supporting environmental and geotechnical field programs (drilling, soil sampling, test pitting, site monitoring)
  • Ability to collect, manage, and maintain accurate field data and documentation
  • Familiarity with soil testing, subgrade evaluation, and foundation preparation is an asset
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently in field environments
  • Clear and effective communication skills when working with engineers, contractors, and clients
  • Valid Alberta driver’s license and ability to work in a fly-in/fly-out camp setting

You’ll contribute to the successful delivery of a high-profile, multi-year oil sands project while representing Stantec with professionalism and technical integrity.

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
