Job description

The Opportunity:

We are currently seeking Environmental Field Technicians to join our Site Investigation and Remediation team, located at our Victoria office.

The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting field work related to monitoring, investigating, remediating, and reclaiming contaminated sites. It is anticipated that the successful candidate will support projects related to the assessment. It is expected the candidate will be self-motivated and will demonstrate strong time management and communication skills.

What you can expect to do here:

  • Fieldwork and coordination for Environmental Site Investigations;
  • Preparing and adhering to site-specific health and safety plans to mitigate or eliminate risks;
  • Planning and conducting soil, groundwater, soil vapour and surface water sampling using a variety of techniques;
  • Overseeing soil hydro-excavation and drilling contractors;
  • Working with contractors to oversee test pitting, excavation, surveying, utility locating work;
  • Overseeing remedial contractors including directing remedial excavations;
  • Using appropriate technology and equipment to collect field data;
  • Compiling, analyzing, and reviewing data to develop a conceptual model of site characteristics;
  • Conducting environmental monitoring during construction;
  • Traveling across BC for fieldwork;
  • Applying and interpreting results for quality and accuracy;
  • Preparing and coordinating project documentation;
  • Filing and managing all project-related field notes;
  • Performing and recording work tasks as requested efficiently and accurately;
  • Other duties as assigned.

We'd love to hear from you if you have:

  • A completed college diploma or university degree specializing in environmental science or a related discipline;
  • Previous experience with soil and groundwater sampling;
  • More than 3 years of relevant experience;
  • Logical thinking and ability to bring practical solutions to field challenges;
  • Attention to detail in the completion of project-critical documentation;
  • Strong organization skills and the ability to schedule multiple tasks;
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently or in a team environment;
  • Strong awareness of health and safety issues;
  • Active enjoyment of outdoors, in all seasons and weather;
  • Have a valid BC drivers license.

Compensation

Expected Salary (British Columbia): $55,400 to $76,200

The final salary awarded for this role may vary based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
