Job Description:

Parsons seeks a talented Environmental Field Technologist/Scientist/Engineer to join our team! In this role, you will execute field operations focusing on safety, efficiency, and compliance with procedures.

What You'll Be Doing:

This full-time field position involves working independently and with contractors on monitoring, sampling, and supervising site investigations and remediation activities at service stations, bulk plants, terminals, and industrial facilities. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Soil sampling during drilling, test pitting, and excavation activities.
  • Monitoring and groundwater sampling with various equipment.
  • Soil vapour sampling.
  • Supervising contractors such as drillers, traffic control, and excavator operators.
  • Operating equipment like GPS, data loggers, survey levels, and gas meters.
  • Completing field documentation, including safety analyses, reports, notes, and chain-of-custody forms.
  • Collaborating with project coordinators to ensure timely, within-scope, and budget-compliant project completion.
  • Mentoring and supporting junior staff as needed.
  • Travel within BC, possibly for up to two weeks, including weekends and evenings.
  • Performing additional responsibilities as appropriate.

Our safety program supports your development toward becoming a site supervisor.

Required Skills:
  • Degree or Diploma in earth sciences, civil, environmental, chemical, geological engineering, or similar. Equivalent science programs considered.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license.
  • Experience with similar facilities or construction environments is an asset.
  • Ability to work independently and in teams.
  • Physical ability for long standing, walking on rough surfaces, lifting, and bending.
  • Ability to work in adverse weather conditions.
  • Strong commitment to safety.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Mature interaction and self-sufficiency in the field.
  • Effective leadership and contractor management skills.

Salary Range:

$19.99 - $37.27 per hour
