Job summary

TBT Engineering in Ottawa, Ontario seeks an Environmental Engineer or Earth Scientist to participate in environmental projects and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams under the mentorship of experienced engineers. You will expand your technical knowledge in site assessment, remediation, and regulatory compliance while engaging in ecological studies and habitat evaluations.

You will progress toward professional licensure in a dynamic, growth-oriented firm, with opportunities to work on RSCs,

Qualifications

  • Degree in Environmental, Civil, or Geological Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Field experience is an asset and understanding of environmental regulations is required.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in environmental site assessments (Phase I and II ESAs) and site remediation.
  • Prepare technical reports and summaries of investigations.
  • Conduct field investigations and sampling programs for soils, groundwater, surface water, and sediments.
  • Support RSC projects including data collection and regulatory coordination.
  • Contribute to ecological and biological assessments, habitat characterization, and species surveys.
  • Assist in proposal preparation and client/regulator engagement.

Position Description

Contribute to a variety of Environmental projects while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams under the mentorship of experienced Professional Engineers. Apply and expand your technical knowledge in site assessment, remediation, environmental monitoring, and regulatory compliance with exposure to biological and ecological studies such as habitat evaluation, species identification, and environmental impact assessments. Develop your expertise as you progress toward professional licensure in a dynamic and growth-oriented organization.

Position Responsibilities
  • Participate in environmental site assessments (Phase I and II ESAs), site remediation, and preparation of technical reports.
  • Conduct field investigations and sampling programs related to soil, groundwater, surface water, and sediment quality.
  • Support Record of Site Condition (RSC) projects, including data collection, documentation, and coordination with regulatory bodies.
  • Contribute to ecological and biological assessments, including habitat characterization, vegetation and species surveys, and environmental impact evaluations.
  • Contribute to proposal preparation and actively participate in engagement with clients, regulatory agencies, the public, and suppliers.
  • Collaborate closely with Professional Engineers to apply engineering principles, develop practical solutions, and advance toward professional licensure.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong technical skills in Environmental Engineering or Earth Sciences, supported by a degree in Environmental, Civil, or Geological Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Field experience is considered an asset, along with a solid understanding of applicable environmental regulations, standards, and assessment methodologies.

This position is classified as full time.

  • Rate of pay will be commensurate with related experience and qualifications ($62,400.00 per year +).
