Job description
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

Provides environmental expertise and support to KSPC by identifying environmental risks and controls to eliminate or mitigate these risks. The employee recommends, develops, facilitates, and oversees the implementation of specific procedures and processes to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations. The position will advance environmental considerations and general understanding within the Company and help ensure that internal and external environmental requirements are met. The employee will compile and prepare internal and external environmental compliance reports. This position will keep up with current best practices for Environmental material and practices through continuous educational and professional development, leveraging professional, technical, and industrial organizations and/or institutes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Gather information and data for the preparation and submittal of internal and external environmental compliance reports.

  • Conduct environmental audits and assist in the development of corrective action plans to ensure environmental compliance requirements are met.

  • Verify that environmental related maintenance has been completed.

  • Collaborate with various departments to ensure that environmental considerations and regulatory requirements are incorporated into business-as-usual work

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge on local, provincial and federal standards and best management practices, proactively identifying any changes that may impact on-going projects or reporting obligations.

  • Participate in the evaluation of contractor execution plans and mobilization of contractors.

  • Manage environmental consultants.

  • In the event of emergencies or equipment failures, act as a technical resource, as part of the responding team.

  • Support Environmental Specialists as required.

  • Organization-wide provide coaching on environmental related performance (KPIs) and develop and deliver training on environmental practices.

  • Develop positive working relationships within KSPC as well as with contractors, consultants, and visitors to support understanding and compliance with environmental standards and policies.

  • Lead the development, review and implementation of environmental plans, policies, and procedures for KSPC.

Qualifications & Experience

  • B.Sc. in Environmental Engineering or Equivalent discipline or Environmental Science.

  • 3 - 5 years of experience.

  • Professional designation or working towards registration with APEGS (or equivalent).

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills; able to work in multidisciplinary teams.

Employment is subject to successfully completing KSPC’s pre-employment checks which may include criminal record check, education verification, functional fitness evaluation and drug & alcohol testing.
