AtkinsRéalis seeks an Environmental Coordinator to join its Environmental Permitting and Management team in British Columbia. The role focuses on integrating environmental and social risks into projects and coordinating permit applications, reports, and field programs across Vancouver Island and the BC Lower Mainland.

You will work with clients, agencies and Indigenous groups while managing budgets and schedules to ensure timely, compliant delivery of projects.

Qualifications

  • University degree in environmental science or related field is required.
  • Graduate level training is an asset.
  • Minimum 3–5 years in environmental management, ideally in consultancy and construction.
  • Experience delivering projects on time and on budget with strong client satisfaction.
  • Knowledge of environmental legislation and regulatory permits.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, organization, and prioritization.

Job Description Overview

We are seeking an Environmental Coordinator to join our growing Environmental Permitting and Management team in British Columbia. Our work includes delivering keystone projects throughout their lifecycle: from early assessment of constraints to strategic development of regulatory approvals processes, to environmental monitoring, and compliance management through construction and operations. Your day-to-day work will include the coordination of multiple environmental scopes of work, including identifying environmental and heritage risks, coordinating subject matter expert inputs to risk, preparation of monitoring reports and results interpretation against accepted standards, and provision of time-sensitive construction phase tasks where quick response times are critical. Our team works collaboratively within projects to gain social acceptance and manage our clients' commitments to the environment and sustainable development.

Location: Can be based out of our Vancouver office within the Lower Mainland, or our Victoria and Nanaimo offices on Vancouver Island. Other office locations across BC will be considered.

Your role
  • Ensure that environmental and social risks are fully incorporated into projects.
  • Prepare scope, budgets, schedules, change management and deliverables according to contract terms including subconsultant and subcontractor management and coordination.
  • Coordinate or prepare environmental permit applications and technical reports associated with regulatory approvals or compliance requirements.
  • Ensure quality of work including work plans, field programs, data collection and analysis, mapping, technical reports and management plans, environmental monitoring.
  • Support relationship management on behalf of, and as directed by clients with Project stakeholders, partners, agencies and Indigenous groups.
  • Field work including environmental monitoring, field studies, research, and data collection.
About you
  • A university degree or college diploma in environmental science or related studies.
  • Graduate level training is an asset.
  • At least 3-5 years of experience with a focus in environmental management, preferably within an environmental consultancy and a focus in construction.
  • Experience completing projects on time and within budget with a high degree of client satisfaction.
  • Working knowledge of applicable environmental legislation, regulatory permits and approvals, bylaws, environmental best management practices.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills (written and verbal) skills, with the ability to plan and prioritize workload to manage multiple assignments at one time.
  • Project management/coordination experience; Project management accreditation or eligibility (CAPM or PMP) is considered an asset.
  • Professional accreditation or eligibility is considered an asset (e.g., RBTech, RPBio., EP, P.Ag., P.Eng., RPP).
  • Demonstrated experience conducting field work; formal training or certification such as EMCPP, CISEC, CESCL, CPESC considered an asset.
Compensation range

Expected compensation for this role is between $68,800 - $94,600 annually. Base salaries are determined according to several parameters like skills, experience, location, and potential impact on the role. Internal and external competitiveness are also taken into account in our offers.
