Job summary

Canadian Nuclear Laboratories Ltd. is seeking a Manager, WL Clean-up to lead environmental site assessments, remediation planning, and restoration program development at the Whiteshell site in Manitoba.

The role emphasizes regulatory compliance, risk assessment, and managing multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, costly-effective cleanup strategies. The position is onsite in Whiteshell with responsibilities spanning collaboration with CNSC, internal partners, and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, geoscience, or science/technical field with 10+ years in environmental assessment/remediation.
• Postgraduate (M. Sc or M. Eng) is considered an asset.
• Eligible for licensure with Engineer Geoscientists Manitoba.

Responsibilities

• Lead Environmental Site Assessments (Phase I/II) and Remedial Action planning for the Whiteshell site.
• Oversee development and improvement of the Whiteshell Site Restoration Plan, aligned with Decommissioning Plans.
• Support Environmental Risk Assessments and development of cleanup criteria and site clearance surveys.
• Provide leadership to technical staff and contractors, ensuring efficient use of resources and high-quality work.
• Develop team capability through training, mentoring, and performance management.
• Review and approve technical reports for internal stakeholders, clients, and regulators.
• Build relationships with partners and promote teamwork to meet organizational goals.
• Ensure Clean-up Function requirements are integrated into capital projects and restoration activities.
• Maintain robust processes to deliver commitments safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
• Support project objectives by meeting deliverables, costs, schedules, and performance goals.
• Participate in benchmarking and drive continuous improvement through lessons learned and corrective actions.
