Qualifications

Reporting to the Vice-President Environment and Community Relations, the Environmental Authorizations Coordinator will assist the Environmental Manager and will be responsible for monitoring the project's various environmental authorizations and for applying the environmental management and sustainable development systems. Will work a schedule of 5 days on followed by 2 days off, telecommuting, with presence in our Montreal offices as well as at the Windfall site.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Lead and/or participate in the completion of environmental authorizations, which may include environmental impact assessments, as part of a multidisciplinary team;
  • Participate in the preparation of calls for tender, the preparation of technical reports, and the adherence to budgets, schedules and quality of deliverables by external consultants;
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on sector studies and environmental authorizations;
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to develop development concepts, compensation and environmental monitoring programs;
  • Ensure that site activities comply with permits, approvals and applicable environmental legislation;
  • Track permitting requirements and site approvals/conditions; identify environmental issues and problems;
  • Advise, inform and raise awareness among management and staff of environmental issues and the best practices to adopt in environmental and regulatory matters, through occasional training courses;
  • Prepare, forward and follow up applications for certificates of authorization to the appropriate government departments;
  • Help deploy and monitor the environmental management system;
  • Perform other related duties as requested by immediate supervisor;
  • Report any situation that could affect the occupational health and safety of personnel or the physical integrity of installations;
  • Respect health, safety and environmental policies and regulations at all times;
  • Perform any other tasks related to the Environmental Permits Coordinator position that are relevant to the success of the project.

Qualifications required

  • Bachelor's degree in biology, geography, land use planning or equivalent (Master's degree an asset);
  • A minimum of (5) years of relevant experience in environmental permitting or environmental impact assessment;
  • Bilingual (English and French). Will be required to work with English-speaking suppliers and consultants. French is the first language at work.

Technical skills

  • Understanding industrial and mining issues and associated regulations;
  • Master the provincial Environment Quality Act (EQA) and the federal Fisheries Act;
  • Be familiar with related regulations such as the RÉEIE, RAEFIE, RAMHHS and RMD;
  • Have used the ClicSécur platform;
  • Project management skills and attention to detail;
  • Knowledge of TSM protocols (asset);
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Excel, Outlook, etc.).
