Position Overview

This position involves maintaining the cleanliness of the facility, including tasks such as high dusting, damp dusting, dust mopping, wet and dry mopping, vacuuming, carpet cleaning, floor stripping and refinishing, and waste handling.

Experience

• Minimum of one-year experience as a housekeeping cleaner in an institutional, commercial, or healthcare facility is preferred. Training will be provided.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

• Grade 12 or equivalent.

Qualifications and Skills

• Working knowledge of applicable sanitation and safety standards related to the department.
• Observe all aspects of resident safety at all times.
• Ability to learn and apply proper body mechanics, including bending, stooping, kneeling, and stretching over or under furnishings and fixtures.
• Ability to work from and climb stepladders.
• Maintain a high standard of service and cleanliness.
• Effective communication skills in English, both oral and written.

Physical Requirements

• May involve exposure to disease, toxic materials, noise, allergens, blood, feces, body fluids, etc.
• May encounter aggressive or agitated individuals.
• Perform physical activities such as bending, lifting, balancing, walking, and stooping.

This term position may end earlier as outlined in your collective agreement.

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check, and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if obtained within the last six (6) months prior to employment start date.
