This entry-level post includes mentorship and peer supervision before travelling to First Nations communities to provide counselling, support, and crisis response to diverse clients.

After readiness, you will travel to communities to deliver counselling, coordinate care, and maintain records.

Qualifications

• First Nations ancestry preferred; OHRC guidelines apply.
• Diploma in mental health/social services from recognized college.
• Registration with a professional body regulated to practice psychotherapy in Ontario.
• New graduate with limited to no work experience welcomed.
• Mentorship and willingness to learn in community settings.
• Knowledge of talking therapies and holistic wellness approaches.
• Strong rapport-building and client engagement skills.
• Ability to perform duties regularly and travel when required.

Responsabilités

• Participate in mentoring before starting counselling in communities.
• Travel extensively to First Nations communities to provide counselling and group work.
• Conduct mental health assessments and support treatment planning.
• Assess risk factors, develop safety plans, and manage crises.
• Deliver group therapy sessions and mental wellness workshops.
• Coordinate care and refer to community resources as needed.
• Maintain accurate records and protect client confidentiality.
• Engage in supervision, education, and community presentations.
