Job description

As the Maintenance Helper, you will perform or assist with routine maintenance and repair duties for the property, including items such as painting and grounds maintenance. You will support the Chief Engineer and staff with various projects to ensure our hotel remains inviting and well-maintained. Additionally, since you enjoy working with people, you will interact with guests and coworkers, responding to their needs to provide a safe and comfortable environment. The role may also include responsibilities as a Van Driver (see Van Driver Job Description).

Responsibilities include:

  1. Be a Go-To Person: Assist with routine property maintenance and repair, such as painting, grouting, hanging curtain rods, moving furniture, and basic equipment repairs. Support the mission of creating a safe, secure, and comfortable guest environment.
  2. Be Ready to Help: Respond swiftly and effectively to emergencies or issues that arise during your shift.
  3. Be a Team Player: Assist other departments as needed and collaborate with coworkers.
  4. Be a Safety & Security Agent: Follow hotel safety and security policies, anticipate problems, and notify management when necessary.

Requirements

This role requires limited practical experience; trade school or related college coursework is preferred, along with previous experience in customer service and hotels. You should be comfortable using various tools and equipment. Good communication skills and a basic understanding of English are essential; if you will be driving the van, fluency in English is required. Physical requirements include the ability to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, 50 pounds frequently, and 20 pounds constantly. You must be able to stand for long periods, walk long distances, bend, stretch, twist, and reach. Work conditions may vary in temperature and noise levels, both indoors and outdoors, including on roofs. You may be exposed to chemicals, fumes, odors, dust, and mites.
