Job summary

The University of Alberta is seeking a Java/.NET oriented software engineer to design, deploy, and support enterprise software systems across construction and business operations. This in-person role will work with operational teams to develop applications, databases, and system integrations to modernize legacy systems and automate processes.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, supplemented by several years of progressively responsible software engineering experience.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills are required.

Responsibilities

Workplace Safety: Promote a safe, respectful, and inclusive workplace; follow safety requirements, complete training, identify and address hazards, and report incidents.
Software Development: Design, develop, test, and maintain enterprise applications, ERP systems, APIs, databases, and business workflows.
System Modernization & Integration: Improve existing systems, automate business processes, and integrate internal and external applications.
Data & Database Management: Support data migration, database optimization, reporting, and data integrity.
Development, Operations. & Technical Support: Manage software environments, deployments, CI/CD processes, system performance, and production issues.
Technical Leadership: Provide technical guidance, establish development standards, document systems, and collaborate with stakeholders.
