Job summary

BMO Financial Group is seeking a senior legal/compliance professional to lead governance and regulatory programs in Toronto. The role partners with senior leadership, boards, and committees to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance across corporate governance processes.

You will manage Board meeting logistics, maintain governance records, coordinate audits, and drive process improvements while upholding BMO's values.

Qualifications

  • Typically 7+ years of relevant experience in finance, risk management, legal or compliance.
  • Proficient knowledge of the business and regulatory environment.
  • Law degree preferred with focus on corporate, securities or tax law.
  • Seasoned professional with a combination of education, experience and industry knowledge.
  • Verbal & written communication skills - In-depth / Expert.
  • Analytical and problem solving skills - In-depth / Expert.
  • Influence skills - In-depth / Expert.
  • Collaboration & team skills; with a focus on cross-group collaboration - In-depth / Expert.

Responsibilities

  • Acts as a subject matter expert for internal/external stakeholders.
  • Participates the development and distribution of tailored messaging.
  • Reviews technical procedures for all key processes including those pertaining to the Board of Directors, Committees and Shareholder Services, and implement process improvements, as required.
