Job description

New Value Solutions, a national IT consulting company, is seeking an Enterprise Architect to provide expert advice and solutions that align technological capabilities with strategic business goals for Occupational Health and Safety services.

The Enterprise Architect will analyze that division's application landscape and processes, identifying areas for improvement, and work in close collaboration with product managers to define initiatives that enhance operational efficiency and business effectiveness.

The primary responsibility of the Enterprise Architect is to establish a shared architectural vision for that division's portfolio of products and provide technology guidance to delivery teams, in consideration of broader enterprise themes and overarching corporate initiatives.

Responsibilities:
  • Leads in translating strategic business objectives and business requirements into high-level solution blueprints and alternatives, by participating in the business roadmap definition phase, framing the architectural vision and technology roadmap for the solution, and formulating product themes, features, and technical enablers.
  • Leads the architecture of a portfolio of products for the Prevention division (i.e. occupational health and safety) that factors technology investments and risks, while also eliminating unnecessary complexities and inefficiencies across the portfolio.
  • Works closely with product managers to elaborate the architectural vision for a portfolio of solutions into products, their components, and interfaces, allocating responsibilities to products and their components, delineating the solution's deployment topology, and keeping each group of portfolio stakeholders apprised of the evolving shape of the products.
  • Leads in evaluating vendor proposals when solutions require external resources, equipment or other expenditures.
  • The Enterprise Architect, in particular, is responsible for translating and mapping business requirements to capabilities and features as well as incorporating operating and other non-functional requirements, leading up to identifying and making recommendations on the best value and return on investment.
  • Guides the definition of common services and technical enablers through the architectural runway, and working closely with delivery teams to ensure fitness for purpose in the specific context of a line-of-business.
  • Contributes to IT's technology governance by ensuring that the use of information and technology generate business value, while mitigating any risks that might arise from selected technology solutions.
  • Collaborates frequently to anchor and embed system design, by supporting product owners and subject matter experts in decision making, as well as guiding delivery teams in design-related disciplines and practices that foster an open exchange of ideas.
Requirements:
  • 9 to 12 years of directly-related experience, with a minimum of 6 years of experience in a role requiring the definition of business application portfolios and/or the design of large-scale enterprise software systems.
  • Experience in the IT operations of occupational health and safety, regulatory operations and enforcement, engineering audit and inspection, or risk assessment and management services would be a strong advantage - e.g. Technical Safety BC, RoadSafetyBC, Transport Canada, or Canadian Food Inspection Agency.
  • Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math)

If you have this expertise, and are able to work in Canada, please submit your resume. While we thank all candidates in advance for their application, only those candidates who are shortlisted will be contacted.

The hourly rate range for this position is $95 - $120, with the final rate based on consultant experience and fit for the role.
